Michael Nhat s/t in Giant Robot’s Top Picks (issue 64)
Michael Nhat made GIANT ROBOT’S TOP PICKS in issue 64 BLACK PLANET:
While Nhat’s lo-fi, mostly electronic music has a carefree and playful tone, his husky voice goes nonstop and he isn’t afraid to sing about booty. Yes, songs like “A lot of People Ask If That’s Her Real Name” paint perfect portraits of imperfect women who have crossed Nhat’s Path (and then some), but I like how he seamlessly mixes in Asian tangents-properly pronouncing Vietnam in the 8-bit-flavored “Everyone Knows Werewolves Kill” or looping an Oriental-flavored sample behind “Photos Of A Klansman Raping Bettie Page,” which kind of sounds like the Pharcyde guesting on “Kung Fu”. The effect is not forced, but instead cool and Natural, all the way to the slow jam and slow dance flavored “Ponds And Lakes” closer. - mw (Giant Robot)
btw, Michael Nhat has a blog
